
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi, HE Ambassador Edouard BIZIMANA, took part on 24 November 2025 in Geneva in an important meeting of the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The event took place in an international context that is increasingly concerning with regard to issues of racism and discrimination. Its purpose was to mobilize Member States around that fundamental challenge.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on the responsibilities of nations in the fight against racial discrimination. Discussions focused on initiatives and measures to be put in place to ensure equal rights for all, regardless of ethnic or racial origin. HE Ambassador BIZIMANA emphasized the importance of collective commitment and international cooperation in advancing this cause. The Minister further highlighted Burundi’s efforts, particularly the progress achieved in the promotion of human rights.
The Minister’s participation in this meeting was not only a sign of Burundi’s commitment, but also a demonstration of the importance of addressing issues related to racial discrimination on a global scale. The country’s active involvement in such discussions is essential in contributing to a future where all individuals are able to enjoy their rights without fear of discrimination.
